Things that went "Dump" in the night.
Surveillance cameras to be used in the fight against litter
Here is a photograph of a few hardy souls at the narrow bridge on the junction between the Drumcliff rd and the Ruan rd on Saturday the fourth of April last. This is the result of around an hour and a half litter picking and it took two car trailers to bring it to land fill. There are a number of roads on the outskirts of the town of Ennis that are prone to the worst type of littering. Pre mediated dumping of domestic refuse to avoid paying refuse charges. This section of road we cleaned on the fourth of April is part of a very popular walking and running route and it is just a start in an attempt to stop the indiscriminate dumping of rubbish.
The sheer volume of dumping that is taking place in our communities is disgusting and I am happy that local authorities are taking a pre-emptive approach . Once the tidy up is complete it is intended to place the area under random surveillance involving infra red cameras.
I am aware that there are other areas where dumping is rampant and it is hoped that a similar approach can be taken in cleaning them up but it is important that a start is made and we have to start some where.
