Revenge Retribution Reprisal

Revenge
“I am the son of peasants and I know what is happening in the villages, that is why I wanted revenge and I regret nothing”
This quotation is attributed to a man called Gavrilo Princip, and I like his attitude.
I want revenge also. I want vengeance ,retribution and reprisal visited on those who led this economy in to the mire. I want to see someone tarred, feathered, strung up, and whipped to within an inch of their lives. My revulsion towards the arrogant, well healed “know nothings” that has brought this economy to its knees for their own gain stirs feelings of rage that can only be satisfied by revenge. Don’t let anyone tell you things are the same the world over. The scale of the crisis in Ireland is the worst in the developed countries of the world. Just have a look at the chart on the comparison of asset takeovers of troubled banks in developed countries(% of GDP)
this gives an understanding of the scale of the bad debt that is in our banks.
Some one has to be responsible for what is happening and what will happen to the sons
and daughters of hard working people in our villages, towns, city’s and countryside.
The problem with the approach taken by our Mr Princip that I quoted is that he’s the guy responsible for the first world war.
On the 28th of June 1914 he assassinated an Austrian Duke and his wife . This caused a lot of real upset in an already tense Europe. One thing led to another, four years later , millions were dead, countries wiped out, tens of millions wounded, the war ended with the signing of the Treaty of Versailles which part caused the second world war. So your man Princip has a lot to answer for. It is a cursory lesson in not regressing to the instincts of revenge.
But I have to have some means that satisfy’s a primal instinct in us all. It is an instinct that once was fulfilled in the spectacle of public execution or placing a wrong doer in stocks or pillories in public places.
There is a need to satisfy the desire for revenge that the law abiding majority need to see that not alone is justice done but that it is seen to be done. This has to take place sooner rather than later given the cutbacks in spending and services the next budget will introduce.
I want to see someone in a pinstripe suite with handcuffs around cuff linked sleeves being marched from a court house to the door of a prison van.
The camera people and photographers who bring us images in news reports and newspapers of people found guilty of crime being led from court rooms of this country do the state an essential service. They satisfy the need for revenge .
But now the sobering bit. No one has been arrested, I don’t know what investigations are taking place. Also given the minimal prosecution for white collar crime in Ireland I am afraid that the desire for revenge will be placated in ways that might do more harm than good. It is unlikely to be as drastic as the consequences of Gavrilo Princips actions. Unless the State resolve to clearly and with determination prosecute and convict for the crimes against Ireland the rage of the people will deepen and turn to something dark and negative when they have to deal with the cuts caused by those crimes..
